DAVID SIMPLE - Title of Sarah Fielding's sentimental first novel, published in 1744. The novel was both a commercial and critical success, garnering praise from the likes of Samuel Richardson.
A. MILLAR - Andrew Millar (1707-1768), a reputable bookseller whose other prestigious publications included, among others, the likes of Johnson's Dictionary (1755) and Sarah Fielding's brother Henry's major novels.
